I remember someone posted a link to the Barnes & Noble Marvel reprints that will be available soon. Does anyone still have it? I can't find it on their site.

This line of books mysteriously disappeared from their site about three weeks ago. My preorder hasn't been cancelled, but it causes one to wonder what's up with that.

Thanks. It does seem strange, hopefully we'll still be getting these.

Does Barnes & Noble accept orders from Canada? I wouldn't mind getting these Marvel Masterworks TPB editions, but to know that they are only for B & N, that's a frustration to get over. Plus, if B & N does accept orders from Canada, paying in US dollars, plus shipping & handling costs after, would it still be worth getting these MM TPBs? Should I just wait for the new re-issues of the MM HCs?

Barnes & Noble does accept international shipping. You can find their rates for Canadian shipping from their webpage www.barnesandnoble.com

Unfortunately, they don't list any MMW paperback as in print.

It was all first volumes. I think it was Spidey, X-Men, FF, DD, and Avengers.

Not Avengers. It's the Hulk.

BTW, I checked with a friend of mine who works for B&N and he says they are still a go...As a matter of fact, they are the books of the month on the company newsletter.

That's great, but they still don't show up for pre-order at b&N.com

In case anyone is still breathlessly awaiting these, I picked them up at a Barnes & Noble today (Salem, NH), so they have been released.

Were they in the graphic novel section, or somewhere else in the sore?

Uh, store, not sore. If they're in any kind of sore, I don't want to know.

Stupid lack of edit!

They were relatively close to the Graphic Novel section. At the local store, the Graphic Novel section is in the front right corner, after the SF and TV-Tie-in stuff, upstairs. The Masterworks were displayed in an endcap at the opposite end of the same row of shelves. Took up the entire endcap, with 10 small, book-sized shelves, all with the books facing cover out. Very hard to miss. They look just like the hardcovers, design-wise.

For the sake of clarity, the paperback covers look just like the newest cover design for the Masterworks, the silver and black one.

I hear that the content is not the newly remastered stuff, but the old Masterworks material.

James,

From Masterworks Editor Cory Sedlmeier at the Masterworks Board:

"The B&N Masterworks are in stores now and contain the remastered/recolored content to quash any rumors there."

Here's the link:

I've just checked and they appear to be the remastered material. The only difference is that the Spidey one contains Ditko's unused covers from Amazing Fantasy no. 15 and Amazing Spider-Man no. 10, rather than AF15 and ASM "no. 1" as listed on the Masterworks Fan Page, but I would guess that was a typo at the site. Either way, the content is different than in my old copy of vol. 1.

Are these shrink wrapped? I hope not; I'd like to flip through them to see what the reproduction looks like.

They are not shrinkwrapped. They look pretty much like the older Masterworks, I think, but I haven't read through them closely. I didn't notice anything too horrendous.

Thanks, Bill--I'll pass that on to my source. He owns a comic shop, so maybe it was wishful thinking on his part...

This is interesting. I didn't know about this. I have 19 of the original hardcovers so I probably won't be picking up any others but it's kinda cool that B&N are releasing these as paperbacks.

I don't recall seeing FF on their website, but if they are out I'll have to replace my Essential FF's.

I already ordered Spidey and Hulk, but skipped DD.

I bought the original hardcover in the early 90s and would never part with it but I'm surprised that they are going for so much now.
